Why is Pakistan more legitimate than Israel? – Dennis Prager

Dennis Prager“Why is Israel’s legitimacy challenged, while the legitimacy of Pakistan, a state that had never before existed and whose creation resulted in the largest mass migration in recorded history, is never challenged?” – Dennis Prager

Whenever I have received a call from a listener to my radio show challenging Israel’s legitimacy, I have asked these people if they ever called a radio show to challenge any other country’s legitimacy. In particular, I ask, have they ever questioned the legitimacy of Pakistan?

The answer, of course, is always “no.” In fact, no caller ever understood why I even mentioned Pakistan.

Pakistan & Israel FlagsThere are two reasons for this.

First, of all the 200-plus countries in the world, only Israel’s legitimacy is challenged. So mentioning any other country seems strange to a caller. Second, almost no one outside of India and Pakistan knows anything about the founding of Pakistan.

Only months before the U.N. adopted a proposal to partition Palestine into a Jewish and an Arab state in 1947, India was partitioned into a Muslim and a Hindu state. The Hindu state was, of course, India. And the Muslim state became known as Pakistan. It comprises 310,000 square miles, about 40,000 square miles larger than Texas.

In both cases, the declaration of an independent state resulted in violence. As soon as the newly established state of Israel was declared in May 1948, it was invaded by six Arab armies. And the partition of India led to a terrible violence between Muslims and Hindus.

According to the final report of the United Nations Conciliation Commission from Dec. 28, 1949, the 1948 war of Israel’s independence created 726,000 Arabs refugees. Many sources put the figure at about 200,000 less. A roughly equal number of Jewish refugees — approximately 700,000 — were created when they were forcibly expelled from the Arab countries where they had lived for countless generations. In addition, approximately 10,000 Arabs were killed in the fighting that ensued after the Arab invasion of Israel.

Hindu refugees from PakistanNow let’s turn to the creation of Pakistan. According to the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees, the creation of Pakistan resulted in 14 million refugees — Hindus fleeing Pakistan and Muslims fleeing India. Assuming a 50-50 split, the creation of Pakistan produced about seven million Hindu refugees — at least 10 times the number of Arab refugees that resulted from the war surrounding Israel’s creation. And the Mideast war, it should be recalled, was started by the Arab nations surrounding Israel. Were it not for the Arab rejection of Israel’s creation (and existence within any borders) and the subsequent Arab invasion, there would have been no Arab refugees.

And regarding deaths, the highest estimate of Arab deaths during the 1948 war following the partition of Palestine is 10,000. The number of deaths that resulted from the creation of Pakistan is around one million.

Hindu refugees at DelhiIn addition, according to the Indian government, at least 86,000 women were raped. Most historians believe the number to be far higher. The number of women raped when Israel was established is close to zero. From all evidence I could find, the highest estimate was 12.

Given the spectacularly larger number of refugees and deaths caused by the partition of India and the creation of Pakistan, why does no one ever question the legitimacy of Pakistan’s existence?

This question is particularly valid given another fact: Never before in history was there a Pakistan. It was a completely new nation. Moreover, its creation was made possible solely because of Muslim invasion. It was Muslims who invaded India, and killed about 60 million Hindus during the thousand-year Muslim rule of India. The area now known as Pakistan was Hindu until the Muslims invaded it in A.D. 711.

On the other and, modern Israel is the third Jewish state in the geographic area known as Palestine. The first was destroyed in 586 B.C., the second in A.D. 70. And there was never a non-Jewish sovereign state in Palestine.

So, given all these facts, why is Israel’s legitimacy challenged, while the legitimacy of Pakistan, a state that had never before existed and whose creation resulted in the largest mass migration in recorded history, is never challenged?

Flags of West AsiaThe answer is so obvious that only those who graduated from college, and especially from graduate school, need to be told: Israel is the one Jewish state in the world. So, while there are 49 Muslim-majority countries and 22 Arab states, much of the world questions or outright only rejects the right of the one Jewish state, the size of New Jersey, to exist.

If you are a member of the Presbyterian Church, send these facts to the leaders of the Presbyterian Church USA who voted to boycott Israel. If you are a student in Middle Eastern Studies — or for that matter, almost any other humanities department — and your professor is anti-Israel, ask your professor why Pakistan is legitimate and Israel isn’t.

They won’t have a good answer. Their opposition to Israel isn’t based on moral considerations. – Town Hall, 28 April 2015

Pakistan vs Terrorism

  1. And many people don’t boycott Israel because they’re against its existence, they’re sick of seeing dead Palestinian babies. That’s a very moral reason which you clearly don’t care about. Also, that last cartoon is very very offensive. Do you have any idea the amount of Pakistani soldiers that have lost their lives in the fight against terrorism. Awful.

    • Pakistan is a terrorist state financed by the US (and China).

It suffers from terrorism because the terrorists its trains to attack India have decided to do some killing at home, too—usually of non-Sunni Muslims or Christians.

  2. Maybe because almost all of those Hindus and Muslims had already lived in that land. Whereas the Jews who went on to create Israel were largely from Europe ? I have nothing against Israel, but just a thought….

  3. Little is more disastrous for India & Hinduism, than being tricked by the illusion that Zionists are a bulwark against difficulties of Islam. Yes the tragedy of 1940s India / Pakistan had more deaths, but the situations are in no way comparable … Israel was and is a colonialist enterprise of invasion backed by Western ‘New World Order’ powers, as many Jews themselves say, while the Pakistan / India partition was horrific wreckage as colonialists departed.

For India to ally with Israel, is in fact to be kneeling before another avatar of its Muslim & Christian tormentors. Israel itself is long known as a secret ally of Saudi Arabia, Israel encouraging the Saudi-funded extremist Islam schools, as one of the tools to create chaos that covers for the offences of Israel itself. Israel & the US seek to be the new abusers of India, selling themselves with a fake ‘fighting extremist Islam’ theme of deception.

Islam and Judaism and conversionist Christianity are all sides of the same cruel, intolerant Abrahamic edifice. The Hebrew Bible and Talmud are the origin of all of the ugly ideas reflected in Christianity and Islam. The Hebrew ‘scriptures’ were the initiators of the ideology of murderous death for Hindu-type believers.

Israel & Zionism are horrible deceptive traps for India. Hindu society needs to turn resolutely away from ALL these Abrahamic cultures, with their ideology of slavery, conquest, murder of polytheists, intolerance, and mutilation of baby boys (circumcision) for a ‘god’ who seeks blood.

Is it not apparent enough that the 3 cultures that circumcise – Jews, Muslims & USA-Americans (corrupted by Jewish physicians) – that these 3 cultures with their mutilated men, are causing so many of the problems in the world, are so pre-occupied with agendas of domination of others?

The path for wisdom for India’s affiiliations, is with those nations which have significant populations of Dharmic-related religions. India needs to be assertively Asian … its home is with other Hindu – Buddhist – Daoist nations, such as in South-East Asean & East Asia. Above all, India needs to face the foolishness of how it has been pushed by the West into stupid & un-necessary conflict with China … and India needs to face its horrific bungling in Sri Lanka where fellow Hindus were needlessly abandoned to die.

With the Abrahamic religions, the tie-in for Hindus is the half-Dharmic Jesus of Nazareth, who clearly either studied in India or with Indian teachers, but did not achieve escape velocity from his Jewish background with its eternal-hell, my-way-is-the-only-way extremism. Christianity was always brightened by its Dharmic part, which unfortunately was overwhelmed by the general Abrahamic themes of intolerance, mutilation, brutality and conquest.

And with the Western world itself, India needs to be confident enough to see that it is a Dharmic, Hindu thread that led to the Western Enlightenment. A century before Socrates, there was the Dharmic Pythagoras, a vegetarian, believing in re-incarnation, opposed to animal sacrifice. Echoing from him, a partial set of Dharmic themes in ancient Greece and Rome were maintained by the Stoics such as Marcus Aurelius … this reverberated through the West to lead to the Renaissance, and finally, after India was re-engaged, the Enlightenment of the 1700s … which in many ways was only a pale and de-spiritualised reflection of the Great Enlightenment that was ancient India … more than 1000 years ago, when nations of north India began to abolish the death penalty … and were followed at points in ancient times by both Buddhist Japan and Daoist China.

That heritage is where modern Hindus and India will have honour and strength and power as they work to recover it – Which means walking away from all the ‘Desert Bloc’ Abrahamic enterprises with their intolerance, conquest culture, and cruelty, Israel-Zionism included.

    • Probably, neither Jews nor Palestinians have any business in the Land of Canaan.

Both peoples were invaders in ancient times. The Hebrew goatherds coming in over the Judean hills began the holocaust of the Canaanite city states under Joshua (1355-1245 BCE). The forefathers of the Palestinians came by sea from the east—nobody knows exactly from where—about the same period and occupied the Gaza area. The biblical story of David and Goliath is about a contest between the two invading peoples.

There are no Canaanites left today to claim the land called Palestine as they were decimated by the genocide perpetrated by Joshua.

This may be the first holocaust recorded in history—though Christians and Jews pretend it isn’t a holocaust because their god Yahweh commanded it.

Later, the Jews fled the land they took from the Canaanites a number of times, the last exodus out of Jerusalem being in 70 CE. They got dispersed around the Roman Empire, later the Ottoman Empire, and other parts of the world, some came to Kerala, others made their way to Russia and Eastern Europe.

The Jews integrated well into Russia and Europe. They were educated and highly cultured people.

Probably, they would never have considered returning to Palestine except for the grievously bad treatment they received in Christian Europe starting with the Spanish Inquisition.

Hitler’s war on the Jews was the last straw. They needed their own land to be safe. And as Palestine contained their holy city, Jerusalem, and the graves of their prophets, they chose to go to Palestine.

They acquired Palestine with the connivance of the British through the UN, and have since built a modern western-style democratic state in the middle of a motley collection of medieval Muslim kingdoms and dictatorships.

Of course their treatment of the original inhabitants, the Palestinians, is abominable. They have turned their modern western-style democracy into an apartheid state.

But Israel has always been a friend of India when nobody else was. It understands the Hindu’s problem with the Muslim like nobody else does. It is ready to help in an emergency. Why should India give up such a friendship?

Israel has a superior intelligence agency that collaborates with Indian agencies. This is very important in our Muslim-terrorist-ridden world.

The US doesn’t share terrorist intelligence with India. Instead, it finances the arming of terrorists—indirectly of course—in Pakistan.

When push comes to shove, it is an Israeli bomber that is going to flatten the unholy cities of Mecca and Medina.

Nobody else has the balls to do it—not the bullying Americans or the effeminate, chattering French or the already cowed-down, Islamised English.
